The place that Jack was dragged to is the Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College.

Painted Hall was originally a dining hall for veterans living in college. The result was that it was built to be so spectacular that not suitable for daily meals, so it became a tourist attraction. It would be rent to people to host high-end cocktail party to earn extra money. When there is no business, visitors can come in and admire the wall painting.

The paintings are mainly the rotation of the zodiac and the four seasons, the warships at that time, the symbols of some astronomy, etc., reflecting the religious, geographical and humanistic rules of the people at that time.

Sir James Thornhill, the first royal painter who was honored to be the knight, spent 19 years to finish this painting. After more than 300 years, under the influence of temperature and humidity, the fragile painted surface began to break. It also lost its brilliance due to being covered by smoke and dirt. The museum began to try a small part of the clean-up test in 2012. After confirming the effect, they began to officially Greatly repair two years ago. Carefully remove the dirt from the wall paintigg, and their goal was to preserve the 40,000 square feet of painting currently left.

I went to this beautiful place in the summer, and the painted hall was absolutely one of the most impressive thing that I'd seen in London. There are sofas in the hall, providing a place for the visitors to lie down and appreciate the great art. I remember I stayed there for over an hour without falling asleep. I was totally attracted by the story in the speaker. If you don't want to rent a speaker, feel free to consult the staff, most of which are volunteers. They will be pleased to answer your questions and tell you the story behind the painting.
